Cass Lake Walleye Slot Limit

Upper Red Lake

As we all know Leech has not been at its norm for a couple of years now but I will give what should be the norm for mid to late september. Spring spots turn into fall spots, main lake points, (Pine, Otter tail, Stoney), off shore flats (Grandview, Snake pit along with several un-named) and some shorline areas like west side of Otter tail point or from Little hardwood point into the Meadows. Lots of this on Cass with it's many bars, points and flats. Find cabbage beds and these cab be very good spots to troll around. Shad style baits driving 2-7ft are good to have and productive colors vary but perch, blue/silver, purpledescent and clown have been productive often. One walleye over 24 inches per angler in the daily bag limit is a statewide regulation and is a boon on lakes that don't have more-restrictive special regulations. In many lakes that could be adversely affected by angling pressure, slot limits restrict what an angler can keep and what he must release. Limit: Same as the statewide limit of six, with no more than one walleye over 20 inches. The DNR in 2019 relaxed walleye regulations on Leech, removing the 20- to 26-inch protected. On the lake and its tributaries: Ozark, Taney, Christian, and Douglas Daily limit: Striped bass: only 3 striped bass may be included in the aggregate. Length limit: Walleye and sauger: minimum 18' Striped bass: minimum 20' There are no length limits for white bass, yellow bass, or their hybrids. In the Swan Creek Arm above U.S. Highway 160: Taney.
