Brindley's Harbor no longer sells Fishing and Hunting licenses. The State of Minnesota has enhanced its online license issuing program to provide 24 hour convenience and reduce issue costs. The report was generated in 2002 and describes an increase in pressure that really occured in 2000 and 2001 when there was something of an “angler revolt” over the slot limit on Winnibigoshish. Many folks who didn’t like the slot limit headed over to Leech where the fish were their own worst enemy. Leech is located in Cass County, Minnesota. This lake is 110,310 acres in size. It is approximately 150 feet deep at its deepest point. When fishing, anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Black Bullhead, Bluegill, Brown Bullhead, Largemouth Bass, Muskie, Northern Pike, Rock Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Yellow Bullhead, Yellow Perch, Pumpkinseed.

Angling licenses are valid from March 1 through February 28 of the following year. Hunting licenses are valid from March 1 through February 28 of the following year. Please see regulations handbook for exact dates/times for specific licenses.

Kids can be successful fishing right off the harbor docks, the channel or lakeshore. NEW IN 2019: Leech Lake no longer has a protected walleye slot limit – you can still keep up to 4 walleye per person, but only 1 greater than 20″ in length. For more information on this new regulation, click here. Possession Limit; Walleye: May 9, 2020 to February 28, 2021: All from 20' through 26' must be immediately returned to the water. One fish over 20' allowed in possession. Daily and possession limit is 4 fish. Northern Pike: May 9, 2020 to February 28, 2021: North-central Zone. 10 (not more than 2 over 26'. All from 22-26 must be immediately.

Numerous area sporting good and bait stores still provide over the counter license sales. Included in the Walker area are 'Reeds Sporting Goods', and 'The Y Mart'.
